Job summary

Pacific Life Insurance Company in Newport Beach, CA is seeking a Technical Lead to strengthen the back-end of our administration system, a core insurance platform handling quoting, underwriting, billing, and claims for dental, vision, disability, and life products.

You will lead Java back-end development, design microservices, mentor staff, and drive secure, scalable architectures with collaboration across product, business, and technology teams. Relocation may be provided.

Qualifications

8+ years in Java-focused back-end development with API expertise.
Experience in Group Benefits insurance or financial services preferred.
Proven supervisory experience (3+ years) preferred.
Strong knowledge of scalable back-end architectures and security.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with product management, business, and technology to set architecture and strategy for technology products.
Lead design, development, and optimization of Java back-end services in the insurance platform.
Collaborate with front-end developers, UX/UI designers, and business stakeholders for integration.
Set best practices for secure, scalable applications, governance, QA, release standards, and security frameworks.
Provide mentorship and conduct performance reviews.
Lead hiring and resource management, including contractors.
Design and implement microservices and RESTful APIs for integrations.
Monitor performance and ensure scalability of systems.
Build designs and solutions for complex business needs.
Lead troubleshooting and continuous process improvements.
Travel up to 10% for planning and meetings.
