Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts in Grand Rapids, MN seeks a Mechanical Trimmer (Jarraff Operator) to remove branches from electrical lines. Prior Jarraff operation experience required; physical effort and outdoor work are standard.

Position requires safety compliance, CDL/DOT credentials where applicable, and ability to travel for storm restoration as needed. Benefits include health coverage and 401K options.

Qualifications

• Must be knowledgeable about the daily maintenance and safe operations of all equipment used.
• Must possess physical strength and good balance to climb into and around mobile equipment.
• Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle multiple times daily.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
• Must wear necessary PPE.
• Must have valid Driver’s License and CDL with DOT Medical Card for trucks over 26,000 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Always follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
• Assist in preparing equipment and materials for each day’s work as directed.
• Operate equipment as directed by Foreperson.
• Help maintain and repair equipment and tools used in operations.
• Assist crew and take a leadership role when required.
• Clean up and dispose of all debris.
• Set up barriers, warning signs, and markers to protect employees and the public.
• Track and report mileage to Foreperson.
• Perform duties for storm work as needed.
