ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - JANITOR:
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain a safe environment at all times for all personnel.
- Perform safety-related inspections and activities such as removing snow, salting walkways, removing debris, cleaning spills, clearing clutter, and reporting hazards promptly.
- Ensure chemicals and cleansers are properly labeled, stored, and used according to safety instructions.
- Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies, using them as directed.
- Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors and stairs, maintaining non-slip surfaces.
- Strip, clean, buff, and apply floor sealer and finish to hard floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets as needed.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms following established SOPs.
- Clean and sanitize sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms.
- Clean windowsills and interior and exterior windows.
- Dust and clean office desks and furniture, keeping areas uncluttered.
- Vacuum offices at least weekly.
- Empty trash cans, replace liners, and clean receptacles as necessary.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of facilities for meetings and events.
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools as needed.
- Keep janitor closets, storage, and equipment clean, organized, and safe.
- Restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
- Maintain janitorial equipment and tools, ensuring proper functioning and repairs.
- Attend training on safety, cleaning methods, products, First Aid, AED, and CPR as required.
- Support and enforce policies, OSHA rules, and health and safety regulations.
HANDY PERSON DUTIES
- Perform minor repairs or installations to walls, floors, ceilings, windows, plumbing, electrical, and other structural components.
- Apply paint or upgrade facilities as needed.
- Maintain grounds, including mowing, debris removal, fencing, and safety improvements.
- Handle recycling materials.

Qualifications and Experience:
- At least one year of janitorial, custodial, or maintenance experience.
Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic arithmetic and reading comprehension skills.
- Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
- Valid Indiana driver’s license and ability to drive.
- Reliable transportation.
- Pass background check and drug screening.
- Maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Emotional self-control under stress.
- Ability to assess situations, solve problems, and work under deadlines and emergencies.
- Follow instructions with minimal supervision.
- Communicate effectively using correct English.
- Build positive relationships with staff and management.
Physical Requirements:
- Walking, standing, bending, lifting, and carrying items routinely.
- Adaptability to weather and environmental conditions.
- Move across various surfaces easily.
- Climb stairs, lift, and carry at least 25 pounds.
- Respond effectively to emergencies with proper speech, vision, and hearing functions.
- Perform job duties physically and mentally, with or without accommodations.
