Job Description

This Remote Janitor position involves laundry attending, cleaning services, and related duties to maintain remote industrial housing facilities, food service areas, office facilities, or similar environments. The role may include expediting products, supplies, and equipment between camps. All duties must align with NMS's mission, vision, values, and housekeeping policies.

Responsibilities

• Clean and restock hallways, stairways, offices, food areas, laundry rooms, clinics, living and work areas, and other similar spaces.
• Perform floor cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, extracting, waxing, and buffing.
• Dust surfaces and clean various areas, including high and low spots.
• Use appropriate cleaning equipment and solutions.
• Properly dispose of waste and remove linen, towels, and trash as needed.
• Restock sleeping and bathroom areas with towels, sheets, and blankets.
• Clean indoor and outdoor smoking lounges if required.
• Perform minor facility maintenance, such as changing light bulbs.
• Keep building entryways clear of snow and debris.
• Participate in safety programs and extensive driving duties, including delivery and transport of items to and from sites.
• Locate and distribute materials manually or with equipment.
• Drive vehicles such as Box Vans for deliveries.
• Report safety and sanitation issues to supervisors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience with commercial cleaning equipment and processes.
• Experience in commercial housekeeping.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including background check and drug test.
• Must be a NANA Shareholder residing in the NANA Region.
• Ability to work as part of a team and make decisions independently.
• Ability to stand for 12 hours per shift and live in dormitory-style accommodations.
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Adherence to safety guidelines.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work is indoors and outdoors, often in arctic conditions. Employees must be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull, and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs. Travel by plane or bus is required, and TSA security procedures must be followed.
