Qualifications

  • Age 18+.
  • Fingerprint-based background check and CJIS/TCOLE compliance.
  • Must be willing to work a minimum of 24 hours per week.
  • Must complete Texas jailer certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain TX license within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Admit and book inmates, supervise jail operations, and ensure inmate welfare.
  • Manage inmate property, conduct searches, and maintain custody classifications.
  • Monitor jail security systems, cameras, and emergency communications.
  • Escort inmates to court, appointments, and work release areas; oversee inmate trustees.
  • Perform life safety duties including CPR and fire safety training.
  • Respond to public inquiries regarding inmate status and aid visitors.
  • Maintain logs, reports, and daily population counts.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations and jail rules.

Education

High School diploma or GED
U.S. citizenship
TCOLE/Jailer certification within 1 year
Driver's license (TX) within 90 days
