Job summary

AECOM in Michigan is seeking an energetic ITS/Traffic Operations Engineer to support traffic engineering, ITS, and TSMO across southeast Michigan. You will work on-site with a team of experts to develop timing plans, run studies, and improve system performance.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a transportation field, a valid driver's license, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. On-site work, occasional shifts, and collaboration with agencies are expected.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in engineering or related field, plus equivalency of experience.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass MVR check.
• Experience in traffic engineering and ITS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and optimize traffic signal timing plans using Synchro and SimTraffic.
• Perform traffic and ITS engineering studies to analyze roadway performance and recommend improvements.
• Assist in the assessment and maintenance of traffic signal and ITS systems.
• Provide technical support for real-time traffic management operations, including incident management and special events coordination.
• Collaborate with agency staff, contractors, and consultants to address operational challenges.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation communicating findings and recommendations.
• Collect and analyze traffic data from the field to evaluate system performance.
• Maintain organized project files and adhere to protocols and standards.
