Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Traffic / Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer to join our Transportation team in Traverse City, Michigan. The role blends traffic engineering, ITS design, and client liaison, working with MDOT and local agencies to deliver practical transportation solutions.

The successful candidate will lead technical assignments, mentor junior staff, and help expand AECOM’s Michigan ITS practice while contributing to proposals and business development efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) with 8+ years of traffic/ ITS experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform traffic engineering, ITS, and signal operations assignments for MDOT and other public sector clients.
• Develop ITS planning and design efforts, including architecture, communications, and system integration.
• Support project management, including scope, staffing, scheduling, and client communication.
• Coordinate with MDOT, counties, and municipalities to deliver transportation projects in Michigan.
