Job summary

NewCold is seeking an IT - WMS Super User to manage on-site IT and WMS functions at our Hagerstown facility. You will ensure system reliability, support users, and work with suppliers to optimize performance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in cold storage IT and WMS, 4+ years leading teams, and a Bachelor’s in Information Systems. This is an on-site role with a strong focus on safety, cost control, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of operational experience in cold storage IT and WMS.
• 4+ years of training and team leadership in cross-cultural environments.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field; or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Verify that agreed Customer SOPs are executed with precision and without deviation.
• Continuously monitor IT hardware on site to ensure repair readiness.
• Train and supervise the team to align with IT policy and standards.
• Collaborate with managers on initiatives to reduce costs or improve service.
• Explore and implement additional software/hardware functionality.
• Detect and fix bugs in software and hardware systems.
• Implement system updates with relevant teams.
• Train staff during onboarding and after updates.
• Engage the WMS supplier (Davanti) to ensure system health.
• Coordinate with software and hardware suppliers to meet site needs.
• Monitor IT expenditures and address variances.
• Complete internal reporting as required by Site Manager.

Your role as an IT - WMS Super User

Job Purpose: To effectively manage the IT and WMS functions on site and provide a level of service in line with customer requirements, at a level of cost agreed in the budget. To create and develop a professional culture on site, in line with our values and ensure that a positive attitude to Health & Safety is embedded within the team on site. To become an expert in all IT related systems and software programs, to provide full support with suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Verify that agreed Customer SOPs are executed with precision and without deviation (unless previously stated by the Site Manager).
• Continuously monitor all IT hardware on site to ensure all is in good repair.
• Train and indirectly manage the team to ensure all are in line with company IT policy and ensuring agreed standards are followed.
• Collaborate with managers or supervisors on improvement initiatives to reduce costs and/or improve service.
• Explore and implement additional functionality related to both the software and hardware systems.
• Detect and fix bugs in all systems, both software and hardware.
• Implement all system updates and plan updates with the corresponding teams or departments.
• Train operational staff during onboarding and when updates or improvements are made.
• Engage the WMS supplier (Davanti) to ensure the system is working correctly and improvements are completed.
• Engage various software and hardware suppliers to maintain site requirements.
• Monitor and control all expenditure, focusing on IT related costs and reacting quickly to adverse variances.
• Complete agreed internal reporting and communication as required by Site Manager.

Additional Tasks

• Support Business Development initiatives as and when required.
• Share best practice and standards with colleagues in other NewCold sites, and join collaborative projects.
• Continuously look for opportunities for improvement.

Educational Requirements

• High School Degree
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or in a related field of expertise

Experience Requirements

• 5+ years of operational experience in cold storage IT and WMS systems
• Implementation experience in IT and WMS systems for cold storage facilities
• 4+ years of experience in Training and Team Leadership within cross‑cultural environments
