Job summary

North Carolina State Board of Elections seeks an on-site/remote User Support Specialist to manage computer equipment for staff and provide frontline IT support. The role includes building images, deploying endpoint devices, and repairing hardware while following NC state standards.

You will monitor desktop and mobile devices, administer SharePoint/Teams, and assist security with updates and upgrades, ensuring proper documentation and inventory control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience as described.
• Experience in information technology with desktop support and IT operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical and virtual desktop support via helpdesk ticket system.
• Handle onboarding/offboarding for state staff, including accounts, email and devices.
• Build computer images and deploy endpoint devices across their lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot and repair non-warranty hardware as needed.
• Assist security staff with system refreshes, updates, upgrades.
• Monitor and harden computer systems per standards and policies.
• Manage SharePoint and Teams administration.
• Provide after-hours/on-call support during elections and releases.
• Monitor computing systems and mobile device security compliance.
• Maintain accurate IT asset inventory.
