Job summary

The City of Collinsville is seeking an IT Technician to provide end-user support, onboarding training, and maintenance for hardware, servers, network infrastructure, and software. The role includes serving as the primary help desk manager and reporting KPI metrics to the IT Director.

Applicants should have an Associate Degree in a related field and 1+ years of IT experience; certifications are preferred. On-call after hours and weekends are required.

Qualifications

• At least an Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 1+ years' experience supporting computer networks and systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintains all of the City's end-user IT equipment.
• Troubleshoots issues relating to PCs/laptops, printers/MFPs, mobile devices, IP desk phones.
• Deploys new end-user equipment.
• Assists with maintenance of both physical and virtual servers; performs software upgrades and patching and troubleshoots technical issues.
• Working knowledge of Windows Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, VMWare or another hypervisor, DNS, and DHCP required.
• Assists with maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting on the City's IP network including switches, firewalls, APs, and point-to-point wireless devices.
• Tracks equipment and materials and maintains inventories.
• Provides systems support, maintenance, and testing for proper upkeep of systems.
• Make recommendations to the IT Director about purchasing decisions and policy changes.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and remain in control in stressful situations.
• Perform administrative duties as required.
