Job summary

Furniture Mart USA is seeking an IT Technician for an on-site role in Becker, MN, with duties to support daily IT operations for internal users and help maintain IT infrastructure. The position starts with a wage range of $42,000 to $47,000 per year and runs Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm.

The candidate will install software, manage servers across Windows, Linux, and AIX, and coordinate network hardware changes while communicating clearly with clients and coworkers to ensure reliable IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Respond to IT requests from internal users and provide daily IT support.
• Install application and operating system software on PCs and servers.
• Manage Windows, Linux, and AIX server environments.
• Maintain and upgrade telephone systems and software.
• Administer email and antivirus systems and monitor licenses.
• Coordinate network hardware changes (routers, switches, wireless).
• Create technical reports and project specifications for IT systems.
• Test electronics and inspect components during installations.

Summary

Responsibilities

• Full-Time: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
• Understanding and implementing designs from technical drawings.
• Interacting with contractors and customers using verbal and written communication.
• Creating technical reports for other IT staff, product documentation and other records.
• Preparing cost estimates for management.
• Inspecting electrical components during and after the product installation.
• Testing electronics for problems and proposing solutions.
• Creating accurate project specifications for IT systems.
• Designing engineering experiments for IT systems.
• Finishing projects on time and within budget for IT systems.
• Communicating with clients and coworkers about analysis results.
• Install application and operating system software on PCs and servers.
• Install and maintain both physical and virtual server environments consisting of Windows, Linux and AIX operating systems.
• Maintain and upgrade telephone systems & software.
• Administer email and anti-virus systems.
• Monitor software licenses and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network.
• Coordinate and/or perform additions and changes to network hardware, such as routers, switches and wireless.

Qualifications

• Problem-solving: This requires the use of critical thinking, as the IT Tech may need additional information that isn't provided in order to satisfy the customer or employee.
• Patience: Often the clients don't understand what is happening with their system and may not describe it properly. Patience will benefit the IT Tech in understanding the problem and working toward a solution.
• Communication: Communicating with clients, clearly stating the situation, following through with emails and phone calls and sharing resolutions will make the process flow smoothly.
• Endurance: Because IT Technicians can work long hours with complicated projects, the ability to stay focused on the objective is key. IT Techs may also be involved in the relocation of servers, hardware and peripherals that are important to the operation of the business.
• At least a one-year certification from college or technical school OR three to six months related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
