Job summary

Nebraska Furniture Mart (NFM) is seeking an IT Support Technician I to assist Retail store staff and Home Office teams with hardware, software, and application issues. You will provide exceptional customer service while diagnosing problems and coordinating solutions.

Responsibilities include installation, configuration, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and clear communication with supervisors. This role supports a fast-paced, customer-focused environment at NFM locations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Information Systems or PC/diagnostic repair or equivalent experience.
• 0–2 years experience with communications devices and computer hardware; installation, diagnosis and repair.
• Basic understanding of operating systems on end-user devices and their relation to applications and networks.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with installation, setup, and ongoing usability of POS/Desktop/Telephone devices and peripherals.
• Diagnose equipment issues, analyze problems, and perform repairs.
• Provide preventive maintenance and update service tickets with actions taken.
• Communicate status of open issues with Manager and staff.
• Test equipment to determine why issues occur and perform repairs.

NFM's I.T. Support Technician I provides excellent customer service skills in assisting all Retail store-level and Home Office staff with technical support of all hardware, software and application problems.

Job Duties: A Day in the Life

• Assist: Support staff with installation, move, configuration and ongoing usability of POS/Desktop/Telephone devices, peripheral equipment, software and applications
• Examine: Determine why equipment is not working by analyzing the situation and performing repairs
• Prevent: Provide preventive maintenance as necessary for appropriate hardware and update service tickets with steps performed
• Communicate: Share status of open issues with Manager, Solution Center and staff
• Test: Determines why equipment is not working by analyzing the situation and physically examining the equipment and performs all repairs

Qualifications: Can You Check These Boxes?

• Associate’s degree in Information Systems or PC/computer diagnosis and repair or equivalent experience
• 0 - 2 years experience with communications devices and computer related hardware; installation, diagnosis and repair
• Basic understanding of operating systems of end-user devices and the relationship to application software and network connectivity with the ability to apply them for the completion of routine assignment
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
