Job summary

The University of Toledo seeks a Technology Support Administrator to deliver information technology support, planning, and design for workstations, peripherals, and network services. You will assist faculty, staff, research computing, and students.

Responsibilities include supporting LAN infrastructure, Windows imaging, Active Directory, SCCM, and providing training for instructional tech such as SmartBoards and Cisco Telepresence. On-campus, full-time, with on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Two years of desktop support in Microsoft and Apple hardware and software environments.
• Microsoft Windows operating systems mastery and familiarity with MS Office and Adobe.
• Wireless networks and client-side networking.
• Building and deploying images using tools such as SCCM.
• Windows Server administration.
• Desktop encryption and endpoint security.
• Active Directory administration.
• Remote systems management tools.
• Peripherals including networked printers.
• Conferencing and instructional technology (projectors, SmartBoards, Cisco Telepresence).
• Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the support and maintenance of the LAN infrastructure and network services.
• Install, upgrade and support Windows OS and software; apply OS upgrades and patches.
• Active Directory administration.
• Use system management tools including SCCM.
• Install, upgrade and support hardware (servers, workstations, laptops, peripherals).
• Provide support for distributed file/storage servers and backup systems.
• Encrypt workstations for Windows and Mac.
• Research, test, evaluate, and recommend hardware/software to improve security and performance.
• Hire, recruit, and manage student support staff.
• Provide support/training for instructional technology (SmartBoards, Cisco Telepresence, projectors).
• Design and maintain software images for faculty/staff/lab computers.
• Provide informal training on software and web-apps.
• Consult on IT purchases and prepare quotes for hardware/software/peripherals.
• Provide reports as requested (inventory, workflow).
• Provide onsite diagnostics and field testing to network/server staff.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
