Job summary

Kier + Wright in Livermore, CA is seeking an IT Support Technician to provide Tier 1 helpdesk support and grow into Tier 2 responsibilities. You will configure hardware, assist with Windows environments, and support AutoCAD-related workflows critical to engineering teams.

The role emphasizes operational reliability, rapid ticket handling, and hands-on server and VPN checks, with opportunities to contribute to network projects within a collaborative engineering firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT-related field.
• 1–3 years of desktop/Laptop IT support in Windows environments.
• Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) required.
• Familiarity with Windows Server environments is preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD setup or deployment is strongly preferred.
• Basic PowerShell scripting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Respond to technical support requests in a timely fashion.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot server/hardware/OS/software issues.
• Provide engineering support for AutoCAD Civil3D-related tasks.
• Set up and deploy Windows 10/11 laptops and desktops.
• Document IT processes and draft user guides.
• Track hardware and software assets and conduct audits.
• Monitor local servers and assist remote users with VPN/connectivity.
• Assist in large-scale network updates and office software rollouts.
• Other duties as assigned.
