Job summary

ISU Research Park in Ames, IA seeks an IT Support Technician to maintain servers, workstations, networks and cloud-based assets. You will provide hands-on support, administer O365 and AWS Organizational Units, and assist with system troubleshooting across Linux and Windows environments.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux administration skills with troubleshooting experience.
• Solid understanding of serial communication protocols and troubleshooting methods.
• Hands-on experience with FortiGate firewalls and FortiManager administration.
• Familiarity with O365 administration and Azure Active Directory basics.
• Knowledge of VMware, XCP-NG, and AWS (EC2, VPC) to support virtualized and cloud environments.
• Willingness to travel to support remote locations and data centers.

Responsibilities

• Provide phone and email support to clients, troubleshooting IT issues efficiently.
• Administer and manage on-premises and cloud-based Linux instances for stability.
• Configure and manage FortiGate firewalls via FortiManager for security and efficiency.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot serial and network-connected scale devices.
• Manage O365 email accounts and ensure smooth communication across the org.
• Administer remote data center assets and AWS OUs for secure cloud operations.
• Assist with network troubleshooting to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.
• Document processes and solutions for future reference in knowledge bases.
• Collaborate with IT team members to implement improvements and optimizations.
• Provide on-site support including travel to company locations as needed.
