Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo is seeking a Head Nurse to lead nursing operations in the OBGYN clinic. You will supervise nursing staff, coordinate patient care and staffing, and ensure compliance with policies and quality standards.

The role requires an accredited nursing degree and an active Texas RN license, with at least four years of nursing experience and two in supervision. Schedule is Monday–Friday with day shifts in Amarillo.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an approved accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas or ability to obtain a Texas license.
  • At least four years in nursing, with at least two of those years in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical leadership and daily oversight of nursing operations within the OBGYN clinic.
  • Coordinates patient care, staffing, assignments, and workflow to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality services.
  • Supervises, mentors, and evaluates nursing staff while ensuring compliance with clinical policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, manages patient concerns, supports quality improvement initiatives, monitors clinical outcomes, and ensures documentation and continuity of care.
  • Performs duties including staff orientation and training, participates in quality improvement projects, and supports audits and regulatory reviews.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Provides clinical leadership and daily oversight of nursingoperations within the OBGYN clinic.
  • Coordinates patient care, staffing, assignments, and workflowto ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality services.
  • Supervises, mentors, and evaluates nursing staff while ensuringcompliance with clinical policies, regulatory standards, andevidence-based practices.

  • Performs occasional duties including assisting with stafforientation and training, participating in quality improvementprojects, supporting clinic audits and regulatory reviews, updatingpolicies and procedures, assisting with inventory and supplymanagement, providing input on staffing and scheduling needs,participating in emergency preparedness activities, andrepresenting nursing services during meetings or specialprojects.
