Job summary

The City of Overland Park is seeking a full-time IT Support Specialist in the Information Technology Department. This position maintains and troubleshoots computers, laptops, MDTs and related equipment, performs software upgrades, and supports council meetings and Help Desk operations.

Responsibilities include hardware/software deployment, inventory management, and customer support. Minimum associates degree and valid driver's license required; KCJIS eligibility may apply.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of formal education and work experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record.
• KCJIS access may be required; must meet age and background criteria.
• Three years of experience in general maintenance of computer systems and peripheral equipment; working knowledge of PC operating systems, wireless connectivity, digital video recording and office productivity software.

Responsibilities

• Install, diagnose, repair, maintain, upgrade and dispose of computer systems hardware, software and peripherals per City policy.
• Prepare equipment replacements and software upgrades; document progress on hardware/software deployments.
• Report inventory moves and maintain spare parts; test and deploy hardware/software for City workstations.
• Stay current with new technologies and train co-workers when needed.
• Support Council and Committee meetings with AV equipment as required.
• Answer Help Desk calls and log progress in the ticket system.
• Participate in on-call rotation; work with vendors and service groups as needed.
• Perform other duties; ensure timely communication with stakeholders.
