Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking a Computer Support Specialist to provide technical assistance for software, hardware, and networking tools used by MDT employees. The role includes developing training materials and delivering technical training both in classroom settings and one-on-one sessions.

The position involves coordinating software/hardware installations, configuring new equipment, and ensuring software and hardware operate correctly while adhering to MDT network

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field or 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree
• 1 year of experience in computer systems administration or IT support, including hardware and software troubleshooting, hardware deployment, software installation, configuration and management
• Alternative combinations of related experience or education may be considered

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance in support of software, hardware, and networking tools used by MDT employees.
• Develop training materials and assist with formal technical and computer training, both in the classroom and one-on-one for MDT employees.
• Assist with scheduling, conducting, and coordinating computer software, hardware installation and configuration; perform setup procedures for new equipment and installs, customize, and ensure accurate operation of software packages and hardware on personal computers; customize and troubleshoot applications when problems occur and ensure compliance with MDT network standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field

1 year of experience in computer systems administration or IT support
