Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking a Computer Support Specialist to provide technical assistance for software, hardware, and networking tools used by MDT staff. The role includes creating training materials and delivering technical training in classroom and one-on-one settings.

Responsibilities include coordinating software and hardware installations, setting up new equipment, troubleshooting applications, and ensuring MDT network standards are followed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field, or 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• 1 year of experience in computer systems administration or information technology support, including hardware and software troubleshooting, hardware deployment, software installation, configuration and management.
• Alternative combinations of related experience or education may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance in support of software, hardware and networking tools used by MDT employees.
• Develop training materials and assist with formal technical and computer training in classroom and one-on-one settings.
• Assist with scheduling, conducting and coordinating software and hardware installation and configuration; perform setup procedures for new equipment and installs.
• Customize and troubleshoot applications and ensure compliance with MDT network standards.
