Job summary

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist in Butte to develop and manage district safety programs, interpret regulations, and lead safety training and risk mitigation efforts. This role does not supervise others but serves as the district expert on safety implementation.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field and have 2 years of experience interpreting safety regulations, with alternative qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• 2 years of directly related experience interpreting federal and other safety regulations and guidelines.
• Alternative qualifications include any combination of additional related work experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Interpret safety regulations and administer district safety programs.
• Develop and deliver safety training and awareness initiatives.
• Assess risk and ensure compliance with safety standards across the district.
