Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Technology Services is seeking a Support Specialist to join our IT Support Center. The role combines in-person and remote work to assist students, faculty, and staff with IT incidents and service requests.

You will resolve issues across Windows and macOS, use Office and common apps, and document interactions with care. Hybrid scheduling is required, with in-person hours and some weekend remote work as needed.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years IT support or customer service experience.
• Windows and macOS proficiency.
• Familiarity with Office, Slack, browsers (Chrome/Firefox).
• Ability to research solutions and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first contact for incidents and service requests via phone, email, or walk-up.
• Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate records of interactions and escalations, with strong customer focus.
