IT Support Specialist

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Systems Administrator

Position Summary

We are seeking an IT Support Specialist to provide first-level technical support to employees and assist with the organization’s computers, printers, software, network connectivity, security cameras, and other technology systems.

This position will also assist with maintaining the MFTZ Portal, including troubleshooting issues, testing updates, making minor website/application changes, and assisting with development tasks using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

The IT Support Specialist will work under the direction of the Systems Administrator and will elevate more complex server, network, database, cybersecurity, and application issues as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support to employees and document support requests through the ticketing system.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, monitors, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and security cameras.
• Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues, including IP configurations, wireless connections, physical connections, switches, and network-connected devices.
• Assist with employee account setup, password resets, permissions, and routine Active Directory tasks.
• Monitor and support camera systems to assist with CTPAT surveillance compliance.
• Assist the Systems Administrator with WAN connectivity between organizational buildings.
• Support guard houses with scale software updates, label printers, standard printers, and network connectivity.
• Assist with maintaining and supporting the MFTZ Portal.
• Troubleshoot portal issues and perform minor updates using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Read existing code and make minor changes with guidance.
• Test portal changes, document results, and report application or database issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation of equipment, configurations, support requests, and completed work.
• Escalate significant server, cybersecurity, database, network infrastructure, and application issues to the Systems Administrator.
• Perform other related duties consistent with the position's responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Networking, Web Development, or a related field preferred; equivalent technical training, certifications, education, and relevant experience may be considered.
• 1 year of experience in technical support, computer maintenance, web development, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to lift 30+ lbs.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Strong computer and internet skills.
• Basic knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML, and CSS.
• Ability to read existing code and make minor modifications with guidance.
• Basic understanding of IP addressing, LANs, wireless networks, and network-connected devices.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and 11.
• Familiarity with Windows Server 2019 and 2022.
• Familiarity with Debian and other Linux operating systems.
• Basic knowledge of Apache web server software and file sharing between operating systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time effectively.
