Position: Desktop Support Technician
The Desktop Technician provides advanced technical support for end users, focusing on hardware, software, and network issues. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, diagnosing, resolving complex problems, deploying systems, performing upgrades, and supporting IT projects. The role also involves guiding junior technicians as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, escalating when necessary.
- Provide support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals both in-person and remotely.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and updates.
- Assist with system imaging, deployment, and upgrades.
- Maintain network connectivity, resolving VPN, Wi-Fi, and wired connection issues.
- Collaborate with IT teams (network, security, server) to resolve issues.
- Participate in IT projects such as migrations and infrastructure upgrades.
- Educate users and provide training on IT systems and best practices.
- Maintain records of issues and solutions in a ticketing system.
- Manage IT asset inventories and lifecycle documentation.
- Implement and monitor security protocols to safeguard infrastructure.
- Guide and support Desktop Technicians.
Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 2-5+ years of experience in desktop support or similar roles.
- Proficiency with Windows, macOS, and common applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Knowledge of network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, DHCP).
- Experience with system imaging, deployment, and hardware upgrades.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective time management and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Team-oriented with ability to work independently and mentor others.
- Knowledge of IT security principles and practices.
- Availability for overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
