Job summary

The State Controller's Office is seeking an IT Student Assistant to support the Unclaimed Property Division (UPD) with daily technology operations. You will gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting, hardware and software support, and helping users with technical issues.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an IT program, communicate well, and enjoy learning in a fast-paced environment. This is a part-time, non-benefited student position under University Enterprises, Inc., with California

Qualifications

Ability to analyze information and situations, identify and solve problems, reason logically and draw valid conclusions.
Provide information technology consultation in support of business programs.
Develop effective solutions.
Apply creative thinking in the design of methods of processing information with information technology systems.
Monitor and resolve problems with IT systems hardware, software and processes.
Coordinate with users, administrators and engineers to identify business and technical requirements.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Service desk support - provide technical software, hardware, and network problem resolution.
Act as UPD Tier 1 support to triage tickets and escalate as needed.
Facilitate network, software and hardware resolutions for UPD.
Respond to service desk requests using HP-Service Manager, Remedy, Outlook or Teams.
Deliver technical customer support and resolve a wide range of IT problems.
IT Asset Management & procurement - maintain UPD Asset Inventory.
Assist in designing new system architecture and policies for UPD assets.
Coordinate PC hardware, OS and software updates for the division.
