Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an IT Security Administrator to join the operations team in Paarl. This hands-on role manages security infrastructure, implements measures, monitors for threats, and responds to incidents to protect IT assets and data.

You will install and maintain security hardware and software, monitor activity, manage access controls, perform vulnerability scans, and help develop security policies.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of IT support or admin experience focused on security.
• Experience managing firewalls, IDS, and endpoint protection.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
• Experience with Windows and Linux security.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+ are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain security hardware and software (firewalls, VPNs, antivirus).
• Monitor network and system activity for breaches and policy violations.
• Respond to security alerts and incidents with initial investigation and remediation.
• Manage user access controls and permissions to protect data confidentiality.
• Perform vulnerability scans and assist with patching and updates.
• Develop and implement security policies and procedures.
• Provide technical support to end-users on security issues.
