AbbVie in North Chicago, IL is seeking an Associate Director, Planning & Delivery to lead IT demand planning, capacity planning, and portfolio governance across Business Technology Solutions. You will develop dashboards and analytics to enable informed decisions and resource alignment with strategic priorities.

The role requires senior experience in IT portfolio management, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration with Finance, HR, and IT leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Operations, Human Resources, or related field with 9 years of experience; OR Master’s with 8 years; OR PhD with 4 years of experience.
Respective years of progressive experience in IT portfolio management, PMO, resource/workforce planning, technology planning, or related disciplines.
3+ years of people leadership or equivalent experience leading others through complex initiatives.
Experience with portfolio and project governance, demand management, resource planning, or capacity planning.
Experience translating projects, product, and operational demand into resource and capability requirements.
Experience developing portfolio reporting and providing insights into technology leadership.
Demonstrated experience partnering across IT and with Finance, HR, Procurement, or business organizations.
Strong understanding of demand management, capacity planning, resource management, and workforce planning concepts.
Strong analytical and forecasting skills, with data-driven decision making.
Ability to design, implement, and improve standardized processes and operating models.
Strong leadership, coaching, and accountability skills.
Ability to influence stakeholders and drive adoption of new processes without direct authority.
Strong communication and presentation skills; able to translate complex planning info into clear recommendations.
Advanced proficiency with Excel and experience with reporting, visualization, portfolio management, resource management, or workforce planning tools.

Responsibilities

Lead IT Demand Planning: Establish standardized processes for capturing, evaluating, forecasting, and prioritizing technology demand across projects and operations.
Lead Resource & Capacity Planning: Develop a forward-looking view of workforce capacity and align with planned technology demand.
Establish Knowledge Management Capabilities: Lead development and enrichment of knowledge management processes and tools.
Lead Portfolio Planning & Prioritization: Manage IT portfolio planning, evaluating initiatives against priorities, resources, dependencies, and value.
Establish Delivery Governance & Standards: Develop governance, planning standards, stage gates, and risk management.
Monitor Portfolio Performance: Provide visibility into milestones, risks, and delivery performance; identify areas needing leadership attention.
Enable Resource & Workforce Decisions: Translate demand and capacity gaps into resource allocation recommendations.
Lead Planning, Reporting & Analytics: Develop dashboards, forecasts, KPIs, and scenario analyses.
Facilitate IT Planning & Governance: Lead recurring portfolio and capacity reviews with IT leadership.
