Job summary

MSD is seeking an Executive Director of IT Operations and Portfolio Excellence to lead global IT portfolio governance and enterprise IT delivery in a complex, matrixed environment. You will drive Lean/Agile improvements, FinOps alignment, and value realization across divisions.

You will partner with the IT Leadership Team to forecast demand, optimize spend, and report ROI while embedding AI-enabled capabilities to enhance performance, governance, and decision speed at the enterprise level.

Qualifications

• Experience in IT strategy, technology business operations, enterprise PMO/portfolio management, IT financial operations, or management consulting in large-scale, matrixed settings.
• Proven track record governing technology portfolios across federated units and global cost centers.
• Advanced degree (MBA/MS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Govern the global technology investment portfolio with transparent demand intake, rigorous business case validation, prioritization, and milestone gating across corporate and divisional teams.
• Deploy predictive capacity models to balance incoming demand against delivery capacity and reduce bottlenecks.
• Measure, audit, and report post-implementation value capture and ROI for major transformations to executives.
• Maintain enterprise-wide view of portfolio interdependencies, budget variances, and delivery risks with proactive mitigation plans.
• Partner with Finance to enable IT FinOps and TBM, optimize run-the-business costs, and guide vendor governance.
• Design and manage unified IT dashboards and KPI reporting, including MTTR/MTBF, cost-to-serve, deployment frequency, and SLA attainment.
• Structure the governance cadence and cadence of the CIDO organization with monthly reviews and Quarterly Business Reviews.
• Synthesize complex IT portfolio data into concise executive briefings and presentations.
