Strategic Communications in Louisville, KY, invites an IT Operations Manager to lead our IT team and ensure system integrity in a fast-growing IT services company. You will own server, network, and cloud projects, supervise admins, and drive maintenance with minimal downtime.

The role requires 5+ years in IT, strong leadership, and expertise across Windows/Linux, AWS/Azure, and security best practices. Onsite with optional hybrid schedule, travel 10-15%.

Qualifications

• 5+ years IT experience with at least 2 years in system administration.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred but not required.
• Manufacturer certifications preferred: AWS, Cisco, Dell-EMC, Microsoft, VMWare, Veeam, CISSP, Dynatrace, Palo Alto.

Responsibilities

• Project Ownership: lead server, network, and cloud infrastructure projects.
• Daily Admin Management: supervise system admins to keep operations on track.
• SOP Development: create and enforce SOPs for upgrades, migrations, and maintenance.
• Risk & Compliance: final sign-off on risk assessments and IT CAB approvals.
• Corporate Change Management: manage discovery phase and escalations during failures.
• Maintenance Leadership: lead after-hours changes to minimize downtime.
• Technical Check-ins: weekly meetings with admins to unblock projects.
• Helpdesk Escalation: primary contact for escalations and task delegation.
• Technical Trainer: ensure staff have skills to maintain and optimize infrastructure.

Position

IT Operations Manager

Location

Louisville, KY - Travel required – estimated at approximately 10-15% (local and domestic). This will be an onsite position working at our Louisville HQ. Hybrid schedule may be permitted at the discretion of employee’s supervisor.

Shift

Primarily 1st, Full-time, Monday through Friday, estimated to average 45 to 50 hours per week, will require occasional after-hours support for project demands

Mission

This role will have responsibility for managing the day-to-day functions of the IT team and guiding the team to meeting SLA timeframes. This role will prioritize the company’s IT system integrity and drive project completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Ownership: Taking sole responsibility for the execution of the server, network, and cloud infrastructure projects.
• Daily Admin Management: Directing the daily tasks of system admins to ensure “the trains run on time.”
• SOP Development: Creating and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures for all technical upgrades, migrations, and maintenance.
• Risk & Compliance: Final sign-off on Risk Assessments and IT CAB approvals.
• Corporate Change Management(CMB): Managing the technical discovery phase and handling CMB Emergency escalations during system failures and root cause analyses.
• Maintenance Leadership: Leading afterhours systems changes and maintenance windows to minimize business downtime.
• Tactical One-on-Ones: Conducting weekly technical check-ins with admins to unblock project-level hurdles.
• Helpdesk Escalation: Immediate point of contact for helpdesk escalation tickets that need additional assistance and in charge of delegating out those tasks.
• Technical Trainer: Ensure the staff has the practical skills to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize the organization’s technology infrastructure effectively.

Education and Experience

• Experience: 5+ years total experience in IT with 2 years minimum in system administration.
• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Certifications: Manufacturer certifications preferred: AWS, Cisco, Dell-EMC, Microsoft, VMWare, Veeam, CISSP, Dynatrace, Palo Alto
• Operating Systems: Deep knowledge of Windows Server and familiarity with Linux
• Cloud Computing: Deep knowledge with AWS and Microsoft Azure.
• Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in languages such as PowerShell, Power Automate, Python, or Bash to automate repetitive tasks.
• Networking: Deep knowledge of LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and firewalls.
• Software: Deep knowledge of all standard business software including O365 features and licensing.
• Virtualization: Working knowledge of VMWare and Hyper-V.
• Email Security: Familiarity with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
• Backups: Working knowledge of different types of backups.
• IP Phone Support: Working knowledge of Cisco UCM, Unity and Expressway.
• ISO 9001:2015 training within 90 days of hire.

Physical Requirements

Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 20% of the time. The work environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are reasonable. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Should be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance. Require use of multiple computer monitors and software programs simultaneously, desk phone, mouse and keyboard.
