Job summary

Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. invites an IT Operations Intern to gain hands-on experience across Service Desk, Infrastructure Operations, and Production Support.

Based in Fairfield, IA, the program runs 11 weeks from May 17 to July 30 and pairs interns with mentors to work on meaningful projects. Applicants are undergraduates in IT, CS, Network or Systems Administration, or related fields, with curiosity, strong troubleshooting, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate student pursuing Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Network or Systems Administration, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, or related technology program.
• Basic understanding of information technology concepts and interest in enterprise support, infrastructure, applications, service management, automation, or operational reporting.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication, a service mindset, dependable follow-through, and the ability to collaborate with users and team members of varying technical backgrounds.
• Curiosity, initiative, willingness to ask questions, and comfort learning new technologies; prior help-desk or enterprise IT experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to day-to-day technology operations and a defined improvement project while working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Analyze service or operational trends, maintain clear documentation, and recommend practical improvements that strengthen reliability, efficiency, or the user experience.
• Use enterprise technology, service-management, collaboration, reporting, and knowledge-management tools appropriate to the assigned focus area.
• Communicate progress and technical findings clearly, manage assigned priorities, and take increasing ownership with guidance from experienced Technology professionals.
