Job summary

LITTLE TREES in Watertown, NY is seeking a hands-on technical owner to run day-to-day operations of our server and network infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and performance across multiple sites.

The role partners with IT specialists and MSPs, manages patching, DR plans, and on-call support, and requires 5+ years in Windows server and network administration, plus virtualization with VMware/Hyper-V.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience administering and supporting Windows server environments.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server 2019+).
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper‑V.
• Ability to communicate technical information, both written and verbal, to end-users.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day operation of all servers, monitoring performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair.
• Plan and perform routine system maintenance and patching; coordinate with IT Specialists and vendors as needed.
• Own and manage the network across sites, including switching/VLANs, Wi‑Fi, firewalls, and site-to-site VPNs.
• Help define and implement standards for selection, configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management of business-critical systems and network infrastructure.
• Maintain compliance with software licensing and support agreements.
• Maintain records of downtime and equipment malfunctions.
• Coordinate with MSPs and IT Specialists on troubleshooting, monitoring, and updates.
• Maintain availability and performance of mission-critical resources.
• Update, maintain, and test disaster recovery plans and procedures annually.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to IT Specialists; document standards and procedures.
• On-call for after-hours issues.
