Job summary

Midland States Bank is seeking an IT Infrastructure Intern in Effingham, IL for Summer 2027. The role supports the Infrastructure Department with documentation, hardware/configuration, and server maintenance, while enabling exposure to networking, cloud, security and automation.

The internship requires enrollment in IT/CS/Cybersecurity with at least 2 years completed, and a 40-hour work week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., local to Effingham.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a degree program with IT/CS/Cybersecurity coursework and at least 2 years completed.
• Able to work a 40-hour week, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., locally in Effingham, IL.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python is a plus but not required.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, communication and a desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist with infrastructure documentation, inventory, hardware replacement and configuration.
• Support server maintenance, patching and technology lifecycle projects.
• Contribute to technology refresh initiatives across the Bank's footprint.
• Gain hands-on exposure to networking, servers, cloud, security and backups.
• Assist with scripting and automation to improve routine tasks.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure team and other IT units.
