Job summary

City of Gainesville, GA seeks an IT Technician III to coordinate workstation support, troubleshoot desktops, install and maintain hardware/software, and provide first-line user assistance. The role includes documentation, training, and involvement in disaster recovery.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree in CS and 2+ years of related experience, with Microsoft software and networks experience preferred and IT purchasing duties. A Class C driver’s license may be required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in computer science preferred.
• Two years of related experience, with at least one year supporting Microsoft software and networks preferred.
• Microsoft and PC certifications and/or related formal training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate workstation support and troubleshoot desktop PCs.
• Install, upgrade, and maintain hardware and software on City computers.
• Provide first contact technical support and user training.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
• Assist in disaster recovery procedures.
• Manage employee IT provisioning (new hires, transfers, name changes, terminations) and email accounts.
• Extract data into Microsoft Office products and other databases; create adhoc reports.
• Coordinate review and change of maintenance agreements for hardware and software.
• Assist in IT purchasing and prepare invoices for payment approval.
