Job summary

The Pike County Information Technology Department seeks an Information Technology Generalist I to provide Help Desk and technical support to County employees. This role serves as a primary point of contact for IT requests, answers Help Desk calls, creates and manages work orders, and assists with installation and maintenance of County technology.

The Generalist I supports senior IT staff with network, server, security, and infrastructure projects, and maintains inventory and documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or two years of relevant Help Desk, desktop-support, or IT experience; or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, certifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming IT Help Desk calls and provide technical assistance to County employees.
• Create, update, prioritize, and complete Help Desk work orders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve computer, software, printer, network, email, telephone, and mobile-device problems.
• Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when appropriate.
• Install, configure, deploy, and maintain computers, monitors, printers, scanners, phones, and other IT equipment.
• Install and troubleshoot Windows and County applications.
• Assist with Active Directory user accounts, passwords, security groups, and computer accounts.
• Provide support for Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and related services.
• Assist with Microsoft Intune and management of County computers and mobile devices.
• Perform basic network troubleshooting involving wired/wireless networks, DNS, DHCP, and VPN connections.
• Assist senior IT staff with servers, networks, backups, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and infrastructure projects.
• Maintain accurate IT equipment inventory and Help Desk documentation.
• Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding, including preparation of computers, phones, accounts, and other technology.
• Provide technical support at County facilities as required.
• Perform other technology-related duties as assigned.
