Job summary

Haywood Community College is seeking an IT Field Technician I to support daily IT operations and provide Tier 1 technical support for the college’s technology environment. The role includes assisting with classroom and auditorium AV systems, live events, and remote support as needed.

You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and document issues across IT and AV systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve service delivery and modernization efforts.

Qualifications

• Must have solid computer skills and strong communication abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills with a customer-service orientation.
• Comfort with helping students, faculty and staff and documenting requests.

Responsibilities

• Answer support calls and provide first-level help desk support.
• Provide Tier 1 technical support via phone, email, and chat; assist with software and OS updates.
• Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, printer, and AV/IT systems issues.
• Assist in setup and onboarding for new employees and events.
• Document requests and resolutions in ticketing systems; maintain training materials.
