Job summary

Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, CA, seeks an IT/AV Support Technician to perform installation, maintenance, and repair of computer systems, AV and data communication equipment, and telephones. The role supports staff, faculty, and students, and covers setup for district events on and off campus.

The position requires knowledge of Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and experience with help desk operations, AV equipment, and network basics.

Qualifications

Knowledge of Telecommunications and computer networking technologies including LANs, WANs, and VLANs.
Knowledge of common office and communication software.
Knowledge of AV equipment operation.
Knowledge of Customer Support Management software.
Knowledge of operating systems including Microsoft Windows and Apple OS.
Knowledge of web browsers.
Knowledge of Chromebooks.
Knowledge of computer imaging and MDM software.
Knowledge of Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, update, and maintain computer and AV equipment.
Enter and update computers and other equipment in the Helpdesk Asset Tracking System.
Connect computers, AV equipment, and peripherals to the District network when necessary.
Provide technical support and training on use of computers, printers, peripheral equipment, mobile devices, AV equipment, and telephones for staff, faculty, and students.
Manage Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS operating systems.
Perform first-level troubleshooting and identify sources of failure.
Repair equipment as needed.
Use the ITS Help Desk system to log requests and track resolutions.
Provide backup help desk support for the district.
Deliver, set up, and operate sound systems and AV equipment for instructional and institutional events.
Assist with evaluation of new software and updates.
Evaluate equipment against standards and recommend replacements.
Follow safety precautions and perform routine safety inspections.
Provide preventative maintenance of AV equipment.
