Job summary

County Public Health in Georgia seeks an experienced Director of Information Technology to lead district IT operations, security, and EHR systems. You will set strategic direction, manage budgets, and collaborate with clinical leaders to enable safe, efficient healthcare delivery.

The role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge (HIPAA), and ability to translate technical needs for executives. This is a full-time, on-site position with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities

Qualifications

• Six or eight years of managerial or supervisory IT experience.
• Experience with EHR systems and healthcare IT is preferred.
• Ability to communicate complex IT needs to non-technical staff.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and cybersecurity standards.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee IT operations, systems, infrastructure, applications (e.g. EHR) and technical support throughout South Health District.
• Communicate complex technical information to leadership, managers, and non-technical staff clearly.
• Ensure IT systems and EHR operations comply with HIPAA, cybersecurity standards, and applicable regulations.
• Collaborate with clinical staff and leadership to improve EHR functionality, workflow efficiency, data accuracy, and patient care.
• Coordinate technology initiatives, system integrations, and IT projects with DPH and external vendors.
• Develop and implement IT policies, security protocols, disaster recovery plans, and improvement strategies.
• Oversee IT budgeting, equipment procurement, vendor contracts, and resource allocation.
• Supervise and mentor IT personnel and provide strategic technology guidance.
