Job summary

The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a Director of Child Health to provide statewide leadership for critical child health programs and services. The role oversees program strategy, operations, and cross‑agency collaboration to protect and promote the health of Georgia’s children.

You will supervise staff, manage federal and state funding, and ensure compliance with applicable requirements while leading program improvements and policy development.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public health or related field.
• Experience in child health.
• Experience in public health.

Responsibilities

• Leads the Child Health Programs for the Department including Health Check, MIECHV, EHDI, Newborn Screening, Autism Access and Innovation, Babies Can’t Wait, Children’s Medical Services, and Children 1st.
• Provides guidance, training, and mentorship to Child Health staff.
• Manages state and federal funding allocations, grants, and contracts.
• Ensures compliance with state and federal requirements and guidelines through evaluation, oversight, and reporting.
• Coordinates program timelines, reports, and contract requirements.
• Establishes standards and protocols for child health clinical services.
• Leads grant applications and needs assessments as required.
• Collaborates with other DPH Programs, public health districts, agencies, and partners.
• Supervises staff.
