Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for the Integrated Social Emotional Program (ISEP). The 6.5-hour daily position supports students with a range of needs within the ISEP team and requires collaboration with certificated staff to implement goals and IEPs.

This role emphasizes safety, de-escalation, data collection, and positive role-modeling in a diverse school setting. Training and weekend sessions may be required; prior experience with students with disabilities is

Qualifications

• Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED
• Associate’s Degree / credits or ParaPro score 461+
• One year of related experience in educational setting preferred
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred
• Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

• Treat coworkers, supervisors, students, parents with dignity and respect
• Serve as a positive role model for students
• Work in a flexible and cooperative manner
• Assist teacher with implementing and evaluating goals on IEPs
• Participate in team meetings for observational input
• Manage behavior and assist students during class activities
• De-escalate students during emotional/behavioral crises
• Prepare teaching materials and maintain data records
• Grade papers and homework with a rubric
• Observe students and ensure safety in school areas
• Attend training to broaden expertise with students with special needs
• Perform other tasks as assigned by administrator
