Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, TX is seeking skilled personnel to manage layout, installation, assembly and steel erection per blueprints and industry standards. You will read plans, fabricate metal parts, hoist and position steel members, and ensure precise alignment and safe completion of tasks.

Responsibilities include cutting, welding, bolting, and rigging, plus material estimation and site inspections to ensure contract compliance and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant field experience.
• Ability to read specifications and blueprints accurately.
• Strong communication with supervision and team members.
• Proficient use of electrical, hand, power, layout and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Read specifications or blueprints to determine material locations and sizes.
• Fabricate metal parts per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting with cranes.
• Verify alignment of structural steel using plumb bobs, lasers or levels.
• Cut, bend or weld steel pieces with appropriate equipment.
• Position structural members using turnbuckles, crowbars or jacks.
• Bolt or rivet structural members and prepare for final assembly.
• Assemble hoisting equipment to move heavy materials.
• Estimate sizes, distances and quantities for work and materials.
• Inspect workers' outputs for contract compliance and correct as needed.
