Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, TX seeks experienced craftspeople to fabricate and assemble structural steel components according to blueprints. You will operate cranes, weld, and bolt steel members, and ensure alignment and safety on job sites.

This role requires climbing, outdoor work in all weather, overtime, and ability to read specifications. You must have basic tools and a high school diploma; prior experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material.
• Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Proficient in safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints/specifications to determine material requirements.
• Fabricates metal parts per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel; hoists beams using cranes or signaling.
• Verifies alignment of structural steel members using levels or laser tools.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces with torches or welding equipment.
• Positions structural steel using turnbuckles, crowbars, or jacks.
• Bolts structural members for riveting, bolting, or welding.
• Assembles hoisting equipment or rigging to move heavy materials.
• Estimates sizes, distances, and quantities and resources needed.
