Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, TX is seeking an experienced structural steel worker who can read blueprints, cut and weld pieces, and hoist and align steel members.

You will verify alignment, use cranes or signaling, and work outdoors in all weather conditions, with potential overtime and nights when workload requires. Safety rules and teamwork are essential in this hands-on role.

Qualifications

• Must possess working knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material required.
• Fabricates metal parts according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel units for hoisting and uses cranes or signaling for placement.
• Verifies alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, or levels.
• Cuts, bends or welds steel pieces using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Forces steel members into final positions using turnbuckles or hand tools.
• Lifts and bolts structural-steel members for permanent riveting, bolting or welding.
• Assembles hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment or materials.
