Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Port Arthur, TX, seeks entry-level labor to assist skilled craftspersons in constructing structural steel components, reading blueprints and following supervisor instructions.

You will help with unloading, positioning prefabricated units, hoisting, verifying alignment, cutting, bending, welding, and assembling hoisting equipment, while adhering to safety rules in a dynamic construction site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, with prior field experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions and communicate with supervision.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to follow and transmit written and oral instructions to management.

Responsibilities

• Learn to read specifications or blueprints to determine quantities and sizes of material.
• Assist skilled craftsman to fabricate metal parts per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Help unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting and guide crane operators.
• Learn to verify alignment of structural steel using plumb bobs, lasers, or levels.
• Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces using required tools; assemble hoisting equipment as needed.
