Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Louisiana is seeking an entry-level helper to assist skilled craftspersons on a construction site. You will learn by reading blueprints, handling tools, and supporting fabrication, assembly, and rigging tasks under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred with field experience.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn to read specifications or blueprints to determine material requirements.
• Assist skilled craftsman to fabricate metal parts according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Assist with unloading and positioning prefabricated steel units for hoisting using cranes or signaling hoisting operators.
• Learn to verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, or levels.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment or materials.
