Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Port Arthur, TX seeks entry-level assistant to support skilled craftspersons on construction sites. You’ll learn to use hand and power tools, assist with laying out work, and follow directions under supervision.

This role emphasizes safety and teamwork; candidates should be able to stand for long periods, work outdoors, and pass basic safety checks. No prior experience required beyond a high school diploma; on-the-job training provided.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline

Responsibilities

• Learn to use hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble and align machinery and install all other items
• Assist with reviewing and verifying inventory of equipment/machine components; checking accuracy of line and grade of existing foundation; prepare foundation for grouting and/or machinery placement; establishing and use centerlines and bench marks; establishing proper elevation of subsole and sole plates; set and aligning machine components; mix and place all types of grout
• Assist skilled craftsman when they torque equipment and machinery; properly rig equipment and machinery and direct crane operators on placement of same. Test all installed machinery and equipment and make all necessary adjustments and/or repairs, if any.
• Assist with dismantling machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools; moving machinery and equipment using hoist, dollies, rollers and trucks
• Assist with the assembly and installation of equipment; aligning machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, micrometers and plumb bobs; assembling machines and attaching them to foundations or other structures according to project specifications.
