Job summary

The American Red Cross in Burlington, VT seeks an IRL Technologist to perform donor and patient testing, interpret results, and support compatibility determinations for hospitals and transfusion services. You will resolve compatibility problems and provide intermediate reference and consultation services.

Standard Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00a–4:30p with rotating on-call on weekends and holidays. Requires a Bachelor’s in Biological Science or Chemistry with MT(ASCP) or BB(ASCP), licensure if required,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Chemistry with MT(ASCP) or BB(ASCP) or equivalent certification required.
• Licensure if required by state.
• Minimum 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
• Good written and verbal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Leadership skills.
• Ability to work on a team.

Responsibilities

• Consult and communicate with staff at other medical facilities to resolve complex serologic problems.
• Manage receipt, coordination, shipment and transport of patient and donor blood samples.
• Assist in daily workflow of patient and donor work.
• Document supply and equipment problems.
• Maintain accurate, legible records.
• Lead record reviews and training when needed.
