Job summary

American Red Cross in Philadelphia is seeking an IRL Technologist to perform donor and patient testing, interpret results, and support hospital transfusion services. You will resolve compatibility issues, handle automated and manual assays, and manage specimen logistics within a fast-paced laboratory.

The role requires MT(ASCP) or MLT(ASCP) with 3+ years in blood banking, a biological sciences/chemistry degree, and state licensure where required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with major in biological science or chemistry.
• MT(ASCP) certification or equivalent.
• MLT (ASCP) certification with 5 years of blood banking experience can be substituted.
• State license may be required where applicable.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player with ability to collaborative cross-functional work.

Responsibilities

• Resolve compatibility problems and provide reference and consultation services to hospitals and transfusion services.
• Perform automated and manual test procedures on blood samples.
• Manage receipt, coordination, shipment, and transport of patient and donor blood samples and document issues.
• Manage reagent inventory and maintain quality control.
• Consult with staff at other medical facilities to resolve complex serologic problems.
