Job summary

The American Red Cross in Pomona, CA is seeking an IRL Medical Technologist to perform donor and patient testing, interpret results to determine donor-recipient compatibility, and support transfusion services.

You will perform automated and manual test procedures, coordinate sample handling, validate equipment, and provide training to customers. A California CLS license and MLS/BB certification are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or Chemistry required.
• MLS (ASCP) or BB (ASCP) or equivalent certification required.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• California CLS or Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License required.

Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret basic to complex donor/patient testing with quality control.
• Perform automated and manual test procedures on blood samples.
• Communicate with hospitals and transfusion services to resolve problems.
• Coordinate receipt, shipment, and transport of samples; manage reagents and inventory.
• Maintain records and perform equipment maintenance and validation.
• Provide internal training and education to external customers.
