The George Washington University’s Office of Human Research seeks an IRB Analyst I to assist in the management and review of human research study applications at all levels and stages of review to ensure timely and accurate approvals consistent with regulations and institutional policy.

This entry-level role supports senior staff with risk and protocol analyses, coordinates IRB submissions, helps run convened meetings, and guides investigators through the approval process while maintaining

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent education/experience.
• Previous human subject research or regulatory analysis experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a shifting priority environment.

Responsibilities

• Supports senior OHR staff by conducting specialized risk, compliance and protocol analyses of research applications to determine the nature and level of risk.
• Coordinates with OHR staff and IRB members to ensure timely review of new IRB submissions and continuing review of protocols.
• Assists in the management of the convened IRB meeting process, including serving as a consultant and making recommendations to revise, minimize, or mitigate risk.
• Monitors and manages post-approval activities by counseling investigators about proposed changes and resolving issues impacting participants' rights/welfare.
• Assists with IRB reliance (sIRB) arrangements and liaises with external IRBs when GW is the Reviewing IRB or relies on external bodies.
• Provides guidance to investigators on the IRB application and approval process across GW departments.
