Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs is seeking a Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer – Level 2 (IR Plume Mod/Sim Systems Engineer) to join our Threat Systems Engineering team onsite.

The role requires a Secret clearance and on-site work with travel up to 10%. You will develop high-fidelity threat models and simulations, validate data, and collaborate across teams to ensure accurate, robust results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline preferred with 2 years of technical experience, or 0-2 years with a Masters.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB or other scripting languages.
• Foundational understanding of aerothermodynamics, radiative transfer, fluid dynamics, and molecular spectroscopy.
• Foundational understanding of data analysis concepts.

Responsibilities

• Data Engineering and Validation: handling large-scale data and validating simulated data against measurements.
• Analytical Rigor: thoroughness and attention to detail in technical datasets.
• Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: root-cause analysis, legacy code debugging, log parsing, and silent error detection.
• Team Collaboration: strong verbal and written communication and cross-team coordination.
