Job summary

UNC-Chapel Hill is seeking an IPS Employment Specialist to support individuals with serious mental illness in obtaining competitive community employment. The role works within the IPS-SE program, collaborating with behavioral health partners and the EIPD team to deliver person-centered employment services.

You will engage with participants, conduct assessments, build employer relationships, assist with job searches, and provide follow-along supports to promote sustained success.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a related Human Services discipline and two years of experience related to the area of assignment, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Experience with IPS or other supported employment models is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Engagement – Provide information about employment and supports to encourage vocational goals.
• Assessment – Gather employment/education histories, goals, and preferences for a person-centered plan.
• Job Development – Build relationships with employers to create opportunities for participants.
• Job Search – Help participants explore employment opportunities that fit goals.
• Follow-Along Support – Provide ongoing support after employment to promote success.
